I was just browsing some shops and came across an advertisement of some shoes."that come off quickly". Now that made me think about the pass advertisements I have seen in the past. As you can see this ladies leg is all out with this popping red pump. Looks and Sounds pretty sexual to me. I was just wondering was this advertisement suppose to make me (a man) go into the store so that I can buy my girlfriend some shoes that come off quickly. Or was it for the ladies to show off their skills?....Hmmm? Dont know how I felt about that one. All I know is that it got my attention so maybe that phrase..and Maybe her legs made me want to go and buy a shoe. Hmm Really?
Yesterday, I was talking to some friends from back home about some current issues that were taking place. They have to inform me on whats going on the home front granted I dont live there anymore. I grew up in a small town and also one of the smallest counties in the state. The county itself has the Highest taxes in the state as well the one of the highest unemployment. Lucky me I escaped from that place, but others haven't. As my friend and I furthered our conversation, we began to realize that this has been a problem in the county for many many years, and the problem was not being fixed. Taxes are so high businesses do not want to even come near the place. The jobs the people do have are leaving and going other places, its just a lose lose situation. The sad thing about it is that this is a place where people are fed up, but no one is putting there foot down. Its like a sea of oppression in the air. County seats are filled with white business owners who own business and are scared of competition. They like to keep things the way that they are because it benefits them. The people have no choice there. The thing I dont understand is why are these people steady being reelected into office. Its just so much crookedness going on its ridiculous. When will enough be enough for the people in that area? Even though I dont live there anymore the problem concerns me because my family is there. They deserve to have good paying jobs, places to spend there money, eat, and have great entertainment. When will the people decide to break there silence?
Working in retail you come across many attitudes with people. You come across ignorance and all of the above every other day. Today work was different. At work having great customer service is checking on the customers and greeting them when they enter into the store. A lady from Africa comes in the store and I greeted her. She stops and says, " Sir Im looking for a shoe." I show her what she is looking for and continue to go back to work. To make a long story short, I went back to do doing whatever I was doing. An hour later, Im walking to the back of the store and see the lady browsing. I asked her was she finding everything ok and immediately she says " Sir just because I have this shawl on does not mean i have anything under here" I get very confused at the time. She then says to me, "Now you have been following me this whole time around this store (granted I wasnt and that she asked me for help as soon as she walked into the door) I didnt see you talking to these white folks in here. She continues to say, I have money, my money is just as good as theirs. I have a right to buy shoes where ever I want." I had to just pause for a second because never in my life have I been accused of discriminating against someone who is black like me. I had to calm myself down before I got an attitude with the lady. I basically let her know that it was my job to check on customers and see if they needed help with anything and not once did I follow her or accuse her of stealing anything. After that incident I had to think about maybe where she comes from things are different when she goes shopping somewhere. It just made me very upset that I was accused of discriminating against someone of my own race. I can say that day has changed my perception of a couple of things.
